Glacial Erratic

2016

Found concrete mass

ACRE Residency permanent installation.

2' x 5' x 3'

A glacial erratic is a rock that differs from the size and the type of rock native to the area carried by glacial ice. The concrete mass from a bridge was found in a geologically significant landscape called “Driftless area” in Wisconsin. The “Driftless area” was formed when the glacier from last ice age missed the area, which created a unique landscape in the Midwest. The landowner stated that the mass washed into a cow pasture when the area flooded. During my stay at ACRE Residency, I flattened and polished the mass to reveal its identity.
